LYNN JOHNSTON....I first met Lynn circa 1998 as one of the players drafted for a Los Angeles version of the Chadbourne Baptist Church. He shared names with the famous Canadian cartoonist behind "For Better or For Worse" but in the case of the reed player, it was strictly for better. I made something of a mission of making sure I could record him, specifically to get him involved in a new piece in my Insect and Western series entitled Tick Talk Flea Mart. We met briefly before the show at the old "Smell" (the one near the private detective academy) and I was basically overwhelmed by the ensuing performance. What a great musician! The performance was documented on a CD entitled BEAUTY AND THE BLOODSUCKER in a series of releases on the British Leo label. It is still part of that catalog as well as being available in my Insect and Western box set. In memory of Lynn a new download and CD deal for the title has been added.
