Cheap composition lessons:  Mission Statement

           For five bucks the student gets a download file consisting of a high quality wav. File of a performance and a file with scores and my notes about the composition and instructions.  As a final part of each lesson the student is encouraged to engage in an email correspondence regarding any questions about the compositions in question via eugene@eugenechadbourne.com

             For the initial series I am choosing remastered and polished scores from my insect and western series, which I began in the mid 90s and which continues to spawn/hatch a new composition from time to time. I regard these pieces as perfect or composition students or enthusiasts. The pieces attack the challenges of improvising within a score from as many directions as can be inspired by studying the lifestyles of various insects—i.e. plenty. More than a hundred musicians internationally have participated in performances of these pieces which include somewhat traditional jazz heads, graphic and instructional approaches, studio-style ‘head’ arrangements and through composed works.
