On the road regularly with the Chadbournes and then Shockabilly, I began to enjoy having my records pressed on labels without having to fund it myself but also bristled at all the restrictions on my freedom and schmoozing required to keep that happening. Cassettes created in all sorts of lo-tech situations were a necessary mental release and it is amazing that punters have been going for this collection for a half a century now without any sign of letting up.
