Originally planned as the climax of the series, the 13th Horror volume again takes the concerto form with the soloist Andrea Centazzo on percussion. Stemming from his early tenure in the Giorgio Gaslini Trio, Centazzo has a peripheral connection to the soundtracks of Italian horror maestros such as Argento, Bava and Fulci. The latter’s basically unwatchable “Nightmare Concert” film inspired the idea of Centazzo being forced to endure a physically and mentally impossible performance, in this case represented by unfathomable pileups of every recording I had ever done with him.
