With the third volume I took major steps in the development of this series. While the first two volumes presented a variety show of mixed monster tributes, Horror Three is a tribute to a specific film I loved, X The Man With the X Ray Eyes directed by Roger Corman and starring Ray Milland. I devised the piece as a concerto with two perimeters: the soloist is Eena Ballard on viola, who created her own material. The orchestration is created from what at that time was every single promotional, gift or somehow acquired compact disc vinyl or cassette that I really didn’t want and was preparing to strip down to its recyclable assets. Oh and theres guitar too.
